Everyday, active, water, travel, adventure

This is the most proven sub 1,500 euro diver from a large maker. The 6R55 gives three days of reserve, the case drops to 40mm with 300m rating, and the date now sits between 4 and 5 so every marker stays lit. Against Swiss rivals at the price you get better water resistance and lume for less money, and Seiko service is easy to find anywhere you travel.

A 300m in house diver with three days of reserve for well under 1,500 euros.

What owners say

WatchUSeek owners who moved from the SPB143 say the 453 wears a little smaller, with a better bracelet and a cleaner black dial. The recurring complaints are the list price for a 6R55 movement, a clasp with no quick adjust and only two micro adjust holes, and the round date window. One early owner also found dust specks on the dial under a loupe, and Monochrome readers called the update overpriced.
