What this is
A short list of watches worth buying at every price, from about €50 to about €80,000. Eight watches in each of seven price ranges. Each one has to satisfy the people who know watches best: their owners.
How watches are chosen
Every watch is in production and can be bought new. It makes the list only when owners on Reddit and watch forums and professional reviewers agree it is one of the best at its price. No brand appears more than twice in a price range, and each range includes a smaller case.
How prices work
The euro price is the official retail price from the maker. The dollar price is the maker's own where it publishes one. Every other currency is converted from the euro price with European Central Bank reference rates, marked about, with the rate and the date.
How specifications are checked
Every figure comes from the maker's product page first, then from a hands on review for measurements the maker does not publish. A figure nobody could verify is left out rather than guessed.
Checked every month
On the first day of every month we check every watch again: its price, whether it is still made, and its specifications. A watch that is no longer made is replaced, and every change is listed on the updates page.
Photographs
The photographs are the makers' own product images, cut out and shown at the same scale, so a 36 mm watch looks smaller than a 44 mm one.
