The no date Submariner is still the reference point every dive watch is judged against. The 41mm case wears smaller than the number suggests thanks to slimmer lugs, the Glidelock clasp adjusts in 2mm steps without tools, and the 3230 calibre runs 70 hours to Rolex's two seconds a day standard. The Omega Planet Ocean dives deeper, but the Submariner is thinner, sits flatter on the wrist and looks as right with a suit as on a swim.
A 300m diver with a tool free Glidelock clasp that still slides under a shirt cuff.

What owners say
Forum owners say the 124060 sits flatter and looks more proportional than the 114060 even though it measures a fraction larger, and caliper checks put the real increase near half a millimetre. Complaints centre on getting one at retail, grey market asking prices well above list, and a sense that the update was too cautious. Small wrist owners still check the roughly 47.6mm lug span before buying.
