Everyday, office, formal, water, travel

This is the simplest Rolex, and the purest version of what Rolex does well: a 3230 movement held to two seconds a day either way, a 70 hour reserve, and an Oyster case good for 100 m. At 36 mm with a 43.4 mm lug to lug it fits nearly every wrist and goes from a suit to the sea. The smooth bezel and plain dial keep it quiet on the wrist. Pick a black, blue or silver dial and the dealer wait is usually short.

It is the only new Rolex you can buy inside this budget, with the tightest accuracy standard in the tier.

What owners say

Rolex Forums and WatchUSeek threads agree that black, blue and silver dials are usually obtainable within months, while green, turquoise and Celebration dials can take years or never arrive. Owners praise how it wears; the main frustration is dealer allocation and purchase history games.
