The steel Daytona is the chronograph every luxury rival gets measured against, and the 2023 update made it easier to live with. Calibre 4131 is rated to two seconds a day, the pushers screw down to keep 100 m of water resistance, and the slimmer case has lugs that curve closer to the wrist. Rivals at this price offer fancier finishing, but none match its legibility and toughness. The catch is access: authorised dealer allocation can take years.

It is the only chronograph at this level built to be worn every day without a second thought.

What owners say

Owners on WatchUSeek and RolexForums praise the comfort, legibility and the 4131, and many find the white dial easier to read than the black. Recurring complaints are the allocation games, the sharper lug feet on the new case, and a split over whether the 126500 lost some charm next to the 116500.
