Privé Tank Normale
CRWHTA0031
$37,600
Formal, office
The Tank Normale is the 1917 original that every later Tank grew from, and this Privé edition stays close to it: flat sided brancards, a bevelled sapphire crystal, a satin gold dial with black Roman numerals and a sapphire cabochon crown. At 6.85 mm it disappears under a cuff. This is a jewellery grade object, not a tool, and calibre 070 gives only 38 hours with no water resistance at all. Judged as a dress watch, nothing else at this price carries the original shape.
The original 1917 Tank shape in solid gold, only 6.85 mm thick.

What owners say
Forum discussion on TimeZone and WatchProSite treats the Normale as the collector's Tank, the more architectural sibling of the Louis. Reviewers and posters flag the same compromises: a small movement with a short reserve, no water resistance, and pricing that SJX called reasonable for Cartier but not a value proposition.

Some figures could not be verified: Official specs from cartier.com search snippets; euro price from Swisswatches rather than a Cartier EU page. SJX reports the same reference number on a platinum Les Opus version, so reference reuse should be checked. Solid caseback comes from a single review mention. Whether the 2026 edition is limited was not confirmed. caseDiameterMm is the long side and caseWidthMm the short side. Hands value 'pomme' (Cartier's apple shaped hands) sits outside the brief's hand list.
